Mount Gede Pangrango Nature Tourism
Mount Gede is a stratovolcano type volcano located on the island of Java, Indonesia. Gunung Gede is within the scope of Gede Pangrango National Park, which was one of the first five national parks announced in Indonesia in 1980.
Geographically, Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) is located between 106º51`-107º02`E and 6º41`-6º51` South Latitude. Administratively, this National Park is included in the area of ​​three regencies in Java Province West, namely Bogor Regency, Sukabumi Regency and Cianjur Regency with a total area of ​​24,270.80 Ha.
The TNGGP area has been known internationally since ancient times, when western nomads (Dutch botanical researchers) stopped by this area. Nationally, the conservation area in the Gunung Gede Pangrango complex has an important meaning in the history of conservation and botanical research, because this area is the first conservation area in Indonesia designated as the Cibodas Nature Reserve, in 1889. Based on Besliut van den Gouverneur General van Nederlandsch Indie 17 May 1889 No. 50 concerning the Cibodas Botanical Gardens and the forest area above it is designated as an example of the mountainous flora of Java Island and is a nature reserve with an area of 240 ha. Next up with Besluit van den Gouverneur General van Nederlandsch Indie June 11, 1919 No. 33 staatsblad No. 329-15 expand the area with forest around Cibeureum Waterfall.
1919 with Besliut van den Gouverneur General van Nederlandsch Indie 11 July 1919 No. 83 staatsblad No. 392-11 designates a protected forest area on the slopes of Mount Pangrango near Caringin village as the Cimungkad Nature Reserve, covering an area of ​​56 Ha.
Since 1925 with Besliut van den Gouverneur General van Nederlandsch Indie 15 January 1925 No. 17 staatsblad 15 withdraws the enactment of the 1889 regulation, stipulating the peak area of ​​Mount Gede, Mount Gumuruh, Mount Pangrango, and the Ciwalen Cibodas watershed as a Cibodas Nature Reserve with an area of ​​1040 Ha.
The Situgunung area on the southern slopes of Gunung Gede and the eastern part of Cimungkad is designated as a tourist park covering an area of ​​100 hectares, through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 461/Kpts/Um/31/75 dated 27 November 1975.
Unesco in 1977 determined that the Mount Gede Pangrango complex and the surrounding area were bordered by the Ciawi highway – Sukabumi – Cianjur as the Cibodas Biosphere Reserve, with a conservation area as the core zone of the Reserve Cibodas Biosphere.
In 1978, other parts, such as the forest complexes of Mount Gede, Mount Pangrango Utara, Cikopo, Geger Bentang, Mount Gede Timur, Mount Gede Tengah, Mount Gede Barat, and South Cisarua were designated as Nature Reserves. Mount Gede Pangrango with an area of ​​14,000 hectares.
With the announcement of the first five national parks in Indonesia by the Minister of Agriculture on March 6, 1980, the Cibodas Nature Reserve, Cimukat Nature Reserve, Gunung Gede Pangrango Nature Reserve, Situgunung Tourism Park and natural forest on the slopes of Mount Gede Pangrango, status as TNGGP, with an area of ​​15,196 ha.
Through the Decree of the Minister of Forestry No. 174/Kpts-II/2003 On June 10, 2003, the GGPNP area was expanded with the surrounding forest area to become 22,851 Ha.
In early 2007, through the Decree of the Minister of Forestry No P.03/Menhut-II/2007 On February 1, 2007, UPT Balai TNGGP was upgraded from echelon III to echelon II under the name Balai Besar TNGGP.
